Aloe Socotrina also known as Aloe perryi, Aloe, Aloe Perri.

It is commonly found  to the island of Socotra in Yemen, and is often known by its common name, Socotrine aloe. It is used medicinally similar as to how Aloe vera is used.

  • The leaves produce a gel that is used as treatment for wounds, burns, and other skin conditions.
  • It is also used to cure haemorrhoids, sore throat and coughs, and as a laxative.

Aloe Socotrina therapeutic range of actions as per Boerick Materia Medica

  • Aloe Soc is an ancient and among the well-known drugs widely used as a purgative (having a laxative effect). It finds a wide repertoire of applications in the material medica chiefly for all kinds of pelvic ailments, pressing down in rectum, abdominal colic, diarrhea, etc.
  • An excellent remedy to aid in re-establishing physiological equilibrium after much dosing, where disease and drug symptoms are much mixed. There is no remedy richer in symptoms of portal congestion and none that has given better clinical results, both for the primary pathological condition and secondary phenomena. Bad effects from sedentary life or habits. Especially suitable to lymphatic and hypochondriacal patients.
  • The rectal symptoms usually determine the choice. Adapted to weary people, the aged, and phlegmatic, old beer-drinkers. Dissatisfied and angry about himself, alternating with lumbago. Heat internally and externally. Has been used successfully in the treatment of consumption by giving pure juice.
  • For Diarrhea with Watery Stool. the stool is copious, watery, yellowish or brownish. An urgency to pass stool, rumbling/gurgling, a constant sensation of bearing down in the rectum.

Head: Headache that alternates with lumbago, with intestinal and uterine affections. Mental labor fatigues. Pain in head after stool. Dull pain; made worse from heat.

Stomach: Aversion to meat with a craving for juicy things. Flatulence after meals with pulsation in rectum and sexual irritation. Nausea along with headache.

Abdomen: Pain around the navel, made worse by pressure. Fullness in right side of the abdomen with pain under right ribs. Abdomen feels full and bloated. Flatus formation, pressing downwards. Severe pain in abdomen before and during stool. Excessive flatulence that burns the anus.

Rectum: Constant feeling of bearing down in rectum. Bleeding from rectum better by cold applications. Rectum feels weak with a sense of insecurity in rectum, when passing flatus. Does not know whether gas or stool will come. Involuntary passage of stool. Stool is lumpy and watery with a lot of mucus. Protrusions like grapes that are very sore and tender; better cold water application. Diarrhea after consumption of beer.

Female: Bearing down in rectum, worse by standing and during menses. Uterus feels heavy, cannot walk much. Labor-like pains in lower abdomen that extend down the legs. Excessive bleeding before menopause.

Modalities: Worse early in the morning; in the summer; from heat; in hot, dry weather; after eating or drinking. Better from cold, open air.
